Gifts to the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies can help expand undergraduate access to experiential learning, support graduate student research, or endow a chair to shape research and teaching priorities for the future.

CLACS Undergraduate Scholarships

CLACS undergraduate scholarships fund undergraduate research, internship, and study abroad experiences in Latin American and the Caribbean that shape young lives and open new career opportunities.

During an internship she conducted research related to machismo, education, and domestic violence.  She describes her experience in Spanish in this video.

CLACS Graduate Student Research Grants 

CLACS Graduate Student Research Grants enable MSU graduate students to test methods, establish contacts, and develop compelling projects that advance knowledge.  

Laura-Castro-Diaz-inline.jpgLaura Castro, graduate student in Community Sustainability, traveled to the state of Para, in the Brazilian Amazon. She studied how the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Dam, the third largest in the world, has affected local fishers.



Aldo-gonzalez-mx.jpgAldo Gonzalez, masters's student in Community Sustainability, studied the autonomous community of Cherán in Michoacán, Mexico.   He assessed whether the empowerment of communities to manage their territories translates into sustainable forest management.
