Student-organized conferences provide MSU students opportunities to organize a major event, present their research, and network with other scholars.  

CLACS Graduate Student Conference

March 17, 2017
This conference aims to generate interdisciplinary conversations on themes of shared interest and to encourage dialogue between scholars from Latin America and the Caribbean and US scholars who plan research in the region.  MSU graduate students engaged in research related to Latin America and the Caribbean in any discipline may submit a paper or panel proposal.  Submit a 200-word abstract, accompanied by 3 key-words, name, department, college and email address to msuclacs(at) by January 12, 2017.

Sickening Discourses: Bodies, Diseases, and Violence in the Romance World

October 21-22, 2016
This is the 16th bi-annual and international conference organized by the Romance and Classical Studies graduate students.  Students present interdisciplinary papers in literary studies, cultural studies, visual arts, film and media studies, gender studies, and linguistics related to the Romance-speaking world. Papers may be presented in Spanish, French, or English.

Migration With(out) Boundaries

October 21-22, 2016
Organized by group of graduate students and faculty from various departments at Michigan State University, this graduate student research conference aims to facilitate and foster an interdisciplinary, trans-institutional cohort of scholars interested in issues of migration and mobility.  

Brazuca's Professional and Academic Development (BrazPAD) Conference 

March 20-23, 2017
The BrazPAD conference supports those with academic and professional interests related to Brazil.  Organized by Brazuca, MSU's Brazilian student organization, the second conference will be a speaker series.  A two-hour seminar with speakers addressing a different topic will occur each day to provide a comprehensive overview of issues related to Brazil.  The 2015 conference provided business insights for operating in Brazil as well as networking opportunities.
