Many have received recognition from CLASP's Américas Award, the Pura Belpré Award or the International Latino Book Awards. Additionally, there are lists around different themes, bilingual books in English and Spanish, and links to other lists of books with Latin American related content.

History includes some tough issues to discuss. This list includes resources related to talking about difficult topics such as race and slavery, slavery in Latin America, including the Transatlantic Slave Trade, and resistance movements in Latin America and the Caribbean.
This packet of resources, written by doctoral student Estela Gonçalves, contains information about slavery in Brazil and its effects on daily life and culture in the present day. Also included are resources related to the long lasting effects of slavery in the US for purposes of comparisons. Brazil’s Black Awareness Day is annually on November 20th.
