Global Art & Literature Lessons Developed by Teachers for Teachers

As a U.S. Department of Education National Resource Center, CLACS aims to provide the K-16 community with educational resources, professional development opportunities, and targeted outreach activities that are timely, relevant and engaging for students.

These programs prepare educators to thoughtfully incorporate art and literature with pedagogical strategies for classroom use that deepen students' critical thinking and curiosity about the world while building skills of observation and creativity. Participants develop curriculua and lesson plans for use by their peer educators everywhere.

MSU Broad Art Museum Teacher Fellowship Program

The MSU Broad Art Museum, in partnership with the African Studies Center, Asian Studies Center and CLACS host a teacher fellowship about global art for K-12 educators of all subjects to:

Broaden students' understanding of the world, people and issues.
Deepen student critical thinking and curiosity about people around the world.
Build skills of observation, imagination and creativity through experiences with art.

Global Children's Literature Teacher Fellowship Program

The Michigan State University College of Education, in partnership with the Asian Studies Center, African Studies Center, LATTICE and CLACS host the Global Children's Literature Teacher Fellowship program. This fellowship brings together K-12 educators from around Mid-Michigan to work with a team of MSU faculty and graduate students to connect local and global ideas through children's and young adult literature.
